Well, Welcome to a hobby gone wild! In 1993 Greg Crane began a $300.00 pond project outside the kitchen window. You know, just a very small inexpensive little pond with a couple of fish, that could see outside the kitchen window as you push the start button on the dishwasher. Years and many thousands later it had truly become a spectacle. After many sometimes expensively learned lessons, Greg decided that it was time to make his pain your gain. He made a full time career change, and devoted himself to finding better and more effecient ways to handle the concerns of hobbyist, professional and commercial pond keepers, making full use of his background in application engineering. First of all, thank you to all of our faithful customers over the years, both commercial, residential, and municipal, who have put trust and dollars into the products and services that we make available. For many years Koi Camp has been engaged in commercial pond maintenance, and biological water control. And after study under the text and course work of Dr. Gratzek at the University of Georgia, Greg soon met up with the beloved Dr. Erik Johnson, whom both have become close friends and professional associates. In the past few years alone, through countless home diagnostic consultations, we discovered many insights on pond construction that would baffle and delight most all who thought they knew the perfect way to build a pond. However, the most common problem that most people face with their pond is filtration. So diligently we began to address filtration from a standpoint of simplicity, ease of cleaning, and effeciency of biological function. Mechanical filtration only begins to describe the need and purpose of a filter.
Good Faith Product Distribution: Koi Camp has become quite proud, and appreciated for our practice of reverse salesmanship. There are enough things to buy that are necessities for your ponds health without selling you fluff. We had rather sell you a few quality products and basic pond first-aid supplies. Yes, less can be better. (It seems that there is a new song out recently stating that very thing.) There are without a doubt many companies both large and small that sell pond products of as many different descriptions as you can fathom. Many of the products are quite good while others do not acheive peak performance to their claims, we'll kindly say. When Koi Camp began its hard
goods distribution, Greg made a vow to our future customers.
And that vow was that we would not waste your time and money,
advertising to you products that either do not perform, are substandard,
or you just plain don't need. You can rest assured that Koi Camp will never knowingly let a product through the door that we would not want any store across America to sell to our own mothers. I would like to take the balance of this page to extend a very special thank you to one of the most dynamic people whom I have had the opportunity to befriend. He has impacted more people with his knowledge and generosity than he will ever be aware of, and sometimes the things that he does for others goes unappreciated as I have witnessed. Yet he presses on to give the Koi world more than any other single individual that I know. My life, career, and person, have most certainly been changed due to his impact on my life. This person is none other than my Koi mentor, the renowned Dr. Erik Johnson. I would like to thank him for having confidence in my abilities, and recommending my services and expertise to his clients, when he can not attend to them personally. I thank him for his willingness to continue to hone my knowledge of the ever deepening world of fish health medicine. But mostly for being a friend and a sounding board for assuring that we do as much as possible to represent to you the customers, value added services and products that will make you successful, and never leave you in the cold. I will stop at that, because if I go any further I will have to don a robe and be called grasshopper. Thank you Dr. J Your friend, Greg Crane Welcome to one of the greatest adventures that you can take in your own yard! |
