For your assurance, we offer a lifetime repair warranty on all models of the Aquadyne Bead Filtration Systems. The warranty covers the main tank, control head, and central diffuser column. If the main tank, control head, or central diffuser column ever breaks, due to normal use wear, we will repair or replace the broken piece or pieces "at our descretion". Rubber O-rings and seals are warranted for a period of 2 years. This warranty does not include damage from freezing, misuse, over-pressurization, or subjecting threaded connections to load bearing stresses, or damages due to overtightening threaded connections. As a courtesy, any damage determined to be the result of such action that is not warrantable will be available at a reduced cost. code1105
Model .60 Excellently suited for ponds up to 1200 gallons.
Model .60-B Excellently suited for ponds up to 1800 gallons. The model .60-B was developed at the request of many who needed a powerhouse filter in a small package that would perform like our other larger filters with blowers, in a slightly smaller footprint. This filter works excellently with most any 1200 gph external or submersable pump. If you intend to use a submersable pump, please use the order number .60-B-S for a submersable riser column.
Model 1.1 Excellently suited for ponds up to 2400 gallons.
While the Model 1.1 is an excellent choice for a bead filtration system within a given price range, the Model 1.1-B far exceeds the performance of the standard 1.1 at a slightly higher initial cost. Carefully compare both filters performance data. The good news is that after April 1st, 2001 we will fit the Standard 1.1 with the necessary bulkheads for a later simple backyard conversion to the Model 1.1-B. So if your budget can't go the 1.1-B at first. You can perform the conversion yourself with a screwdriver and some PVC cement. We are making this improvement to better accomodate our customers with great flexibility in upgrading to a Dynamax blower system. Model 1.1-B Excellently suited for ponds up to 3000 gallons.
Model 2.2 Excellently suited for ponds up to 5000 gallons.
Again, as with the Model 1.1, The Model 2.2 is an excellent choice for a bead filtration system within a given price range for larger ponds. The Model 2.2-B by far exceeds the performance of the standard 2.2 at a slightly higher initial cost at the benefit of turbo-charging the effeciency of your filter. Carefully compare both filters performance data. Here again, we now fit the Standard 2.2 also with the necessary bulkheads for a later simple backyard conversion to the Model 2.2-B. The standard 2.2 can also be converted to a 2.2-B yourself with no special tools. If you are relatively sure that you will likely convert your filter to a Dynamax system at a later date, we advise that you not wait and purchase the appropriate model initially. By the time you decide to convert, you could have had it running from day one with no concern of conversion. Model 2.2-B Excellently suited for ponds up to 7500 gallons.
Model 2.2BH Package Option: $150.00 - Includes a 2" High effeciency Control Head with 2" plumbing in and out. (Same head and column as used in the Model 4.4, just 4 inches shorter in length.) We have been building this column at the request of several of our dealers. If you must have 2 inches in and out of your control head this is the way to get it. However, considering the fact that the maximum recommended filtration rate is 4000 gph, you will only accomplish a friction loss improvement of about 15 to 20% by using the 2" control head and column. If you feel that this friction loss improvement is beneficial to you, buy it. If you are using your 2.2B filter in a typical installation and not trying to tweak every last gph out of your pump, save your money and buy the standard 2.2B model. Bearing in mind that the standard 2.2 and 2.2B control head and column will pass 3000 gph at less than 1 psi at the filter discharge port height, which is most exceptional by anyones standards. Model 4.4-C Excellently suited for ponds up to 14,000 gallons.
Model 8.8-C Excellently suited for ponds up to 28,000 gallons.
The Model 8.8-C is definately the Mac Daddy of all bead filters in its price range. Boasting worry free maintenance on ponds up to 28,000 gallons. Our latest proving ground for high fish load concentrations on the Model 8.8 is a commercial fishery that is running 600 pounds of fish in a single living, growing system with generous feeding habits, yet they claim a most excellent water quality with regard to waste management. At such a heavy load, their practice is to take a few minutes and backwash the system every day to eliminate the mechanical waste from the heavy feeding that goes on in the commercial facility. In the average large pond installation, the sheer volume of the Model 8.8 can bless you with only having to backwash as little as once every 3 weeks. These farmers joke that you really can clean the filter with a cup of coffee in your hand. As of June 1999 we have introduced a new option for Aquadyne which has become standard on many models. This is the Dyna~Max Air Assist Bead Pre-Rinse and works most exceptionally with any standard two speed motor or many popular high effeciency 1/4Hp single speed or similar pumps, and yes, even submersable pumps have been used on these filters with great success. We have also introduced a whale of a filter in the Model 8.8 for the year 2000. This is a phenominal filter in a low profile package with the most exceptional performance on the market due to the custom machined inverted diffuser system for maximum water dispersion within the biological filter bed. Clarifying Flow Rates: Stated average filtration flow rates are average. You can increase or decrease the flow rates as you like. However the maximum filter flow rating is intended to reflect maximun solids removal while maintaining reasonable biological contact with the bacteria living on the filter media to effectively remove ammonia and nitrite from the water system within the parameters of the specified fish loads. Minimum backwash flow rates indicated, reflects the flow rate that most effectively separate solid waste products from the bead media and flush the waste products from the filter with a minimun of water loss. The minimum backwash flow rate for your particular filter many well be lower, dependfing on A: Whether of not your system has a Dynamax option installed, B. The amount of fish waste or plant waste in your system produed by various feeding habits. C. The overall frequency in which you backwash your particular system. All living aquatic enviromnments have many variations on the particular biological chemistry with regards to active waste products in the pond. Some may have only fish waste, while others may have fish waste, plant waste, and even simentation waste from soil products washing into the pond. Aquadyne is spedifically designed to operate in all types of pond environments handling most waste with little difficulty.
Chart, Data Clarification: The Maximum Pond Size shown indicates the maximum pond size for greatest biological effeciency of a given system. Pond size can also be significantly smaller than the maximum rating. By using a larger system on a smaller pond, you will only further increase the biological cleanliness of the pond environment. Likewise, the pond could also be slightly larger than the rating on a system provided that there was not a significant fish load. (See Fish Capacity Data) The Minimum Flow Rates indicated in the chart indicate the minimum flow rates required to backwash or advanced backwash the system. Flow rates during the normal filter cycle can be significantly slower than indicated in the chart. However, during the backwash cycle, you must have the ability to increase the flow to the minimum rating for a proper backwash. Often the use of a two speed pump will allow you to run a very slow flow rate with a lower power consumption while filtering, and only use the less economical high speed for backwashing. The maximum flow rates listed are a cross section of two factors. Mechanical control head port size for effecient flow without significant restriction, and contaminated water contact exposure to the billions of beneficial bacteria residing within the filter. Without a doubt, slower flow during the filter cycle is better, but, a faster flow rate also places the recirculating water in contact with the media more frequently, netting near identical nitrification results. The Maximum Pressure Rating all Aquadyne systems is a whopping 50 PSI ! --- We actually consider this a non issue, because the Central Diffuser Column on our filter is so effecient and non-restrictive that you would have to install a 5HP pump and have the filter half clogged to put 50PSI on the tank. This simply would not occur in any practical application so we consider it just a perk. However, you should install a water pump that most nearly matches the performance rating of the filter that you are choosing. As a caution, there have been instances where a pump was arbitrarily chosen because of head pressure without the consideration of water volume. This can potentially cause a tank gasket to blow out. For example, if you were choosing a Model 2.2 or 2.2B, the recommended water flow rate for maximum filtration effeciency is between 1000 and 4000 gallons per hour. That is not to say that the filter would not perform well at 5000 gph. BUT, what some contractors tend to do is use high head swimming pool pumps on fish ponds because they are cheaper to install. The basic deal is that the average 1Hp swimming pool pump can pump about 5000 to 7000 gallons per hour, which is not the real problem. The real problem is that when a filter begins to load up with fish waste and debris this swimming pool pump with its high head impeller tries to maintain this high rate of water flow which in turn can put excessive pressures on a filter tank which can cause gaskets to leak. High head swimming pool pumps also cause other problems as well, but we will discuss this later. As always, we are available to answer any confusions that you may have when making an equipment choice. On The Other Hand, you should be aware that some filter manufacturers use a technique called spin welding to attach fittings to their tanks, and thin tank wall construction, these tanks can only be rated at pressures of around 15 PSI Max. This is not sufficient for medium head pumps capable of any decent flow rate. We do not use these substandard manufacturing practices. Yes, you have read correctly. We offer a lifetime repair warranty on all models of the Aquadyne Bead Filtration Systems. The warranty covers the main tank, control head, and central diffuser column.
